Rhythmic Bodies in Motion provides a medium through which students could express themselves through dance. We promote awareness and appreciation for the art of dance on campus. RBIM prides itself on its three components of diversity.
1. Diversity in dance skill. We believe that anyone that has the energy, desire and dedication, should be afforded the opportunity to perform.
2. Diversity in dance style. We wish to educate the University community about the diversity that exists in dance, and for this reason we encourage styles that deviate from the classics. We promote African, Contemporary Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Belly dancing and more.
3. Diversity in ethnicity. We are proud to say that we have the most diverse and talented array of dancers on campus.
Performances are entirely student-run: Students design and make costumes, create original choreography, and work with student technicians to design lighting and mix music. Membership has been dynamic since the start: the company started off as a 31 members, has grown to nearly 100 members, and continues to expand and diversify. We look forward to the participation of new dancers and choreographers next year, helping us to cotinue to educate the University campus about the diversity that can be found in dance!
